"THERE DO EXIST ENQUIRING MINDS, which long for the truth of the heart, seek it, strive to solve the problems set by life, try to penetrate to the essence of things and phenomena and to penetrate into themselves. If a man reasons and thinks soundly, no matter which path he follows in solving these problems, he must inevitably arrive back at himself, and begin with the solution of the problem of what he is himself and what his place is in the world around him. For without this knowledge, he will have no focal point in his search. Socrates’ words, “Know thyself” remain for all those who seek true knowledge and being."

 SLIPPERY MIND

©Finding Balance, 2008, Laura Lopez
"Forgetting quickly as it turns from one task to another
... it searches for what it had a grasp of only a moment ago.

This slippery mind is a wonder
... so easily distracted
... so easily forgetting... what?

Let it go, I suggest as the fog rolls in ...
now smiling,

I feel newly born
In awe of each moment of this new reality

Hah!

Slippery mind."

Personality Disorders: Codependence

The following videos are discussions about various “personality disorders”. I have posted them here for the purpose of sharing information about personality types. Remain objective; do not become identified with and allow yourself to be taken by what you see and hear. Many personality types share many of the same manifestations and habitual ways of being. If what is shared touches a nerve, or starts associations in you, remain centered in yourself. Become aware of your breathing and the soles of the feet on the ground to help you to remain focused while watching and listening. ;-) L.

Wikipedia:
Codependency is defined as a psychological condition or a relationship in which a person is controlled or manipulated by another who is affected with a pathological condition ...... ; and in broader terms, it refers to the dependence on the needs of, or control of, another.[1] It also often involves placing a lower priority on one's own needs, while being excessively preoccupied with the needs of others.[2] Codependency can occur in any type of relationship, including family, work, friendship, and also romantic, peer or community relationships.[2] Codependency may also be characterized by denial, low self-esteem, excessive compliance, or control patterns.[2] Narcissists are considered to be natural magnets for the codependent.

Artwork: "The Evolution Series ~ 2008"

In all there are 41 pieces in this series of drawings of individual and collective octaves.

The series evolved as I intentionally tried to remain aware of each movement of the hand and practiced self observation for a designated period of time or during lulls in business each day while working as a receptionist in a very busy engineering office for several months. I was wishing to be consciously aware of self as a living breathing organism as much as possible and not be taken by the outer ebb and flow of the energy in the office.

I have been posting one drawing each week on the weekly work page. So far I have posted three. Each is a direct result of my experiences of the day it was drawn. If you sense yourself in time and space as your eyes try to follow the continuous lines without losing contact with yourself, you may be able to hear the story of each octave - not my story - but your own.

TODAY

Today is today,
not yesterday, not tomorrow.

What is on the agenda for today?
Can I Be completely where I am in any given moment today?

Or will I be satisfied with being taken by the usual illusions and imaginings?

What do I want in this moment, and this moment and this moment?

I Wish to Be.

Can I see what takes me at least?
