"THERE DO EXIST ENQUIRING MINDS, which long for the truth of the heart, seek it, strive to solve the problems set by life, try to penetrate to the essence of things and phenomena and to penetrate into themselves. If a man reasons and thinks soundly, no matter which path he follows in solving these problems, he must inevitably arrive back at himself, and begin with the solution of the problem of what he is himself and what his place is in the world around him. For without this knowledge, he will have no focal point in his search. Socrates’ words, “Know thyself” remain for all those who seek true knowledge and being."

Love

February 11, 2014
"LOVE AS A BUSINESS DEAL
It is very difficult to learn to love. If an object of fascination or some kind of dream or promise is presented to you, you might fall in love. But it is very hard to love if it means purely giving love without expecting anything in return. We can only fall in love if we think our expectations will be fulfilled. In most of our love affairs, our love is conditional. It is more of a business deal than actual love."

Man is Divided

Pink Slippers on Green Rug ~ L.Lopez 2012

"Man has no individuality. He has no single, big I. Man is divided into a multiplicity of small I's."  ~ G.I.Gurdjieff

ISOTM Chapter  III

*

"Eckhart Tolle: To me the ego is the habitual and compulsive thought processes that go through everybody's mind continuously. External things like possessions or memories or failures or successes or achievements. Your personal history. All these things, a bundle of thoughts, of repetitive thoughts that give you a sense of who you are.
Dan Harris: So our ego, this constant stream of thinking, the voice in our head is making us miserable?
Eckhart Tolle: Yes, that's right. And it prevents you from being truly alive. So I'm not saying we mustn't think anymore. That would not be possible and it would not be desirable. Thinking is a wonderful tool if it's applied. Thinking however can not become the master. Thinking is a very bad master. If you're dominated by thinking then your life becomes very restricted. If you're able to use your mind instead of being used by your mind, that's a beautiful thing. To use your mind constructively. "

Spiritual Materialism

"Enlightenment is the highest thing that we could ever achieve ... We all know that... But at the same time we have a lot of problems with that. So presenting the teaching of spirituality properly, [...] you have to have very good understanding of basic sanity. And also you have to have a good understanding of basic materialism - spiritually. ..." ~ Chogyam Trungpa Rimpoche
