"THERE DO EXIST ENQUIRING MINDS, which long for the truth of the heart, seek it, strive to solve the problems set by life, try to penetrate to the essence of things and phenomena and to penetrate into themselves. If a man reasons and thinks soundly, no matter which path he follows in solving these problems, he must inevitably arrive back at himself, and begin with the solution of the problem of what he is himself and what his place is in the world around him. For without this knowledge, he will have no focal point in his search. Socrates’ words, “Know thyself” remain for all those who seek true knowledge and being."

Observing a Lie

Evolution Series #13
©2008 ~ L. Lopez
Well, here's an interesting start to the work year.

After our conversation today, I sent the following to a young woman I coach by telephone every morning. I sent it because she expressed an interest in the TV show Lie to Me. And, now that the touchy feely, ooey-gooey "loving" and "caring" feelings of the "holidays" are behind us, I am sharing part of that email with you. I bring it to the fore now because lies and lying have been a non stop theme since before Thanksgiving with all of those I mentor as well as with the world in general as evidenced by upcoming elections campaigns and everyone else back to "business as usual". In order to learn how to BE present and objective lies and lying - in oneself and in others -  must be understood on the objective level. This is essential Knowledge.

"Dear ...:

... BTW - A Wise Woman once said:

"If you look for lies you will find them, if you look for truths you will find them. What do you really want to spend your time [focusing on]?"

You already know, on the instinctive/psychic level, when someone is being honest with you and when they're not. You just don't know yet how to stop your own *habitual automatic reactions* when you sense you are being lied to.

[This is where you get into trouble. You are quickly taken by the emotions which are much faster than the other centers.]

Try this - When you sense a lie, instead of reacting emotionally, stop for a moment and go to your true center like you do when you first used the ... [centered yourself with sensation]. Stand in it. Become still inside and just [clinically] observe what it is you are hearing and seeing when you look at the one who is "lying" because there's so much more to a lie than the lie itself. There is so much more to see [know].

[You will see it is not really about you and you will know better what to do and say in 'response' to the lie and the liar.]

It is very interesting to view a lie from this more objective perspective. We can't do this when we are taken into illusion and imagination by our [automatic and habitual] subjectivity because we are not present in those moments. We have succumbed to *the stories and associations* in our heads and have reverted to the past, dream, imagination and illusion fueled by the stories.

When you take yourself out of the equation by not reacting and by becoming still inside, [by becoming more present]  you are free to gather more objective  information about what is happening in those moments."
