"THERE DO EXIST ENQUIRING MINDS, which long for the truth of the heart, seek it, strive to solve the problems set by life, try to penetrate to the essence of things and phenomena and to penetrate into themselves. If a man reasons and thinks soundly, no matter which path he follows in solving these problems, he must inevitably arrive back at himself, and begin with the solution of the problem of what he is himself and what his place is in the world around him. For without this knowledge, he will have no focal point in his search. Socrates’ words, “Know thyself” remain for all those who seek true knowledge and being."

On Forgiveness Of Snakes

from the: Lalo The Snake Catcher Stories
"Apprentices"
Chapter III: In Service :Note  from Lalo to apprentice snake catchers on Forgiveness of Snakes
by LL ~ 2008

"Forgiveness of a Snake is essential in this business if you are going to be a master snake catcher. However, do not mistake the idea of forgiveness for a magic wand that will keep you safe. Forgiveness is an act of compassion, not a prophylactic, when it comes to most snakes.

When you forgive a snake for having bitten and made you ill
Do not then fall asleep in it's presence.
You will be bitten again
Unless you stay awake.

Do not be lulled by the flute and the smoke
and begin to rock back and forth to the tune.
Stand in your shoes,
ready to catch it and put it back in it's bag
with Love."
